WHERE DO WE STAY?

You would fly into San Diego, California and stay at a local hotel of your choice.  You will then meet with Dr Sharon May, Alan Hart, or your qualified counselor in Carlsbad or Pasadena, California.  If you are local, we recommend you put your responsibilities and distractions on hold, for the several days of the intensive..   This way your full emotional attention is given to the intensive, and evenings are spent processing, relaxing and preparing for the following day.

WHAT INTENSIVE DATES ARE AVAILABLE?

We usually have space available 3 weeks of each month.  Please email for specific dates.  Know that dates fill up quickly, so let us know your first option as soon as possible.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SAFE HAVEN INTENSIVES AND OTHER INTENSIVES?

Safe Haven is based upon Emotionally Focused Therapy, the most well researched therapeutic model resulting in significant and lasting change.  The Safe Haven model walks a couple through an intentional, in-depth, meaningful process with well trained leaders.  Dr May has conducted about 800 individual couple intensives over the past 25 years.  And thousands of couples have gone through the marriage-impacting Safe Haven experience.  Many couples prefer an individual private intensive, so to have the personal direction of their intensive leader.

WHAT IF MY SPOUSE IS UNSURE OF ATTENDING?

It is best to allow us to send information to you and your spouse so you can both read the material and make a decision.  If your spouse knows that the experience is not to pressure, punish or find blame, but rather to build understanding of both perspectives, they are more likely to attend.  You can attend the intensive even if you are not sure whether or not you want to stay in the marriage.  The intensive will get to the heart of your pain and disconnection and from a new understanding and perspective discover what it will take to heal and rebuild your marriage.  The intensive will help you discover it.  You don't need to figure it out before you attend.

IS THE INTENSIVE COVERED BY INSURANCE?

The intensives are not covered by any medical health insurance.
